After starting his legal career with a Fort Worth law firm, Russ joined Lyrick Studios, which later merged with HIT! Entertainment. In his capacity as Vice President of Legal and Business Affairs/ Associate General Counsel, Russ protected and licensed such childrenâ„¢s brands as Barney®, Bob the Builder®, Wishbone®, Thomas & Friends®, and other properties. He subsequently was Associate General Counsel of CROSSMARK, Inc., serving as lead counsel for the company’s corporate governance and intellectual property. Russ then practiced as a solo practitioner before helping open the Dallas office of Phillips & Reiter, PLLC. He obtained a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Texas A&M at Commerce (formerly East Texas State University) and a J.D. from Texas Tech University School of Law.
