As a licensed professional counselor, Mark Felber works with individuals and couples as they struggle through life’s many challenges. He works with people who are codependent and are spending their lives so addicted to love that it affects every corner of their lives. He also helps individuals struggling with grief, personal losses, and life passages. As a licensed chemical dependency counselor, Mr. Felber is also trained to work with those who are struggling with an addiction.

As a clinical member of the American Counseling Association, and the American Society of Group Psychotherapy and Psychodrama, he brings to his role of psychotherapist, a toolbox of therapeutic techniques, a solid academic background and a genuine commitment to help his clients heal. His goal is to give them tools and skills they can use to live happier, more satisfying lives.

Mr. Felber draws on an educational background that includes a Master’s Degree in Counseling from Texas A & M and seven years of doctoral studies at the University of Texas at Dallas, where he explored a cultural history of intimate relations. He is both a licensed professional counselor and a licensed chemical dependency counselor.

But his commitment to his clients does not end with academic credentials. He has broadened his educational background through post-graduate studies and workshops in areas that he believes stand to benefit his clients the most. Rather than having simply one or two therapeutic models to use when working with clients, Mr. Felber has studied a variety of models that can be used to help clients understand their issues, develop new strategies and move further along the path to healing and growth.

Mr. Felber is trained to work with couples facing all types of situations, from those whose relationship has simply hit a rough spot and needs a little help to restore the intimacy of the past to those whose marriage is falling apart or seems beyond repair. Using Imago Therapy he helps couples recognize childhood wounds that affect their relationship, learn ways to really hear each other, and practice exercises that can revive a dying marriage and restore it into the vibrant, nurturing relationship it started out as. Couples also learn how to heal childhood wounds and reconnect with lost parts of themselves. Using solid skills, couples can create the relationship of their dreams and enjoy their life together.

More than merely a good listener or a sympathetic ear, Mr. Felber uses concrete tools and exercises that allow his clients to really make changes in their lives. As a therapist he is there all along the way to provide guidance, encouragement and support. But it is the client who is empowered to change how they see the world and go about the daily task of living. It is Mr. Felber’s goal to point his clients in the right direction, utilizing his natural empathy for others, while using therapeutic tools that light the way so that every individual can discover the person he or she was meant to be.

Self-injury – nicknamed the “local expert” on the topic, I explain what self-injury is and isn’t, debunk the myths about it, types of self-injury, reasons why people injure, warning signs of it/how to spot it, treatment options, and areas of focus in treatment.

Boundaries – I define what bounaries are regardless of what type of relationship it may be–dating, marriage, family, or work. An explanation of how poor boundary setting can lead to issues such as depression, anxiety, anger, self-destructive behaviors, perfectionism/control issues, and cause undue stress. The later part of the presentation deals with how to establish healthy boundaries through various techniques and how to rid yourself or at least limit the influence of the unhealthy people in their lives. I can tailor this to fit businesses who may have difficulty with employees who share too much info, abusive bosses, and what manipulation looks like in the work place.

Perfectionism – Identification of the seven different forms that it takes, the underlying issues (emotional and psychosocial/environmental), and how to work through those control issues (techniques).

Stress Management – I like to educate people as to the mind-body connection with stress. The focus is on identifying the different forms of stress, its impact on the mind and body, and then finishes with stress management techniques that work vs. those that do not.

I can also speak on abuse issues (identification of physical/sexual/emotional abuse), parenting techniques, bullying/mean girls, and suicide education & prevention to name a few.

For the past 8 years, Dr. Minette Riordan has successfully built a multi-media publishing company targeting families in the Dallas/Ft. Worth Metroplex. She credits her success to learning how to connect with others through networking, referrals, strategic partnerships and an attitude of service to others first. Minette’s secret to sales success is not about winning a numbers game, but playing the people game: cultivating an attitude of curiosity and openness that will quickly help you attract clients and fans. Prior to starting her company, Minette was an educator. She has taught at the university and high school levels, as well as adult education and personal development workshops. She was named the 2009 Small Business Owner of the Year by the Plano Chamber of Commerce and received the 2007 Altrusa Outstanding Women of Today award.

More Topic Information

Attraction Marketing – How to Get More of the Clients You Really Want – There are specific simple things you can do to cause more business to come to you instead of you having to chase after it. But it’s not easy and you have to be consistent. The payoff is huge. Who are you and how are you currently marketing your business? What’s working? Who do you think your ideal client is? Do you know who you don’t want to work with? These are just of the questions we will discuss in this interactive, fun and powerful talk about how to attract what you really want in your business. This 30-45 minute talk is ideal for sales groups, business organizations and networking groups.

Create a Better Business Card – Most of us take our business cards for granted and don’t think twice about what we put on them. We hand them out haphazardly without any real understanding of their value or without giving thought to the potential for a bigger return on our investment. In this 30 minute talk, Minette will share a few key tips to create a business card that will get your more business and become a key part of your marketing plan. One of the keys to successful marketing is educating people about how to do business with you. Use your business card to accomplish that; make it very clear what the next step is that they need to take. A business card is an underused and powerful tool. Let me help you create a better one! This is a great talk for networking groups, business groups, Rotary clubs or other business-focused groups.

What on Earth is Style-Shifting? How to Interact and Connect with the People who Matter – This is an informative, humorous and educational talk based on understanding personality styles, which influence how people interact and react to other people, tasks, stress and the environment. Once you can identify your own style, you can learn to style-shift in order to communicate more effectively with people who are very different from you. When you learn to talk to people in a way that is meaningful to them, you build trust and credibility and they are more likely to do business with you. Personal style and credibility are valuable tools to use whether you are an entrepreneur, business owner, sales manager, spouse or mom. In this interactive seminar, Minette will define credibility, give examples of who has it and who doesn’t and show attendees how to improve their credibility in the eyes of others.

The Power of Commitment: 10 Steps To Successfully Reaching Your Goals – How often have you met someone who says “I am trying to lose weight,” while standing in line at McDonald’s ordering a cheeseburger and fries with their Diet Coke? Commitment is so much more than merely deciding or trying to reach a goal or improve your life. Commitment is making a binding promise to yourself or others and doing whatever it takes to achieve your goal. Sometimes there are long gaps between deciding to do something and then formally committing to doing it. People tend to cavalierly toss the word commitment around, but when questioned closely they are simply talking about an idea, they are not taking inspired action towards change. Trying is an excuse, it distances people from the truth, fear of pain and challenges that often come with committing to real change and long term progress. Before you can fly high, you must dig deep to discover the truth behind why you want to change, why you want to reach a goal and what is holding you back.

Heart-Centered Parenting: How to Connect to Your Children By Listening to Their Feelings – This talk emphasizes the ways in which we shut down our children’s feelings without even realizing it, how to learn to listen more constructively and build the foundations of a relationship that will last a lifetime. From the time our children are born, we can help them understand how to express their feelings in ways that are appropriate. By creating a loving, safe environment for our children, they will learn to thrive as independent, happy children in any setting.
