- Self-injury – nicknamed the “local expert” on the topic, I explain what self-injury is and isn’t, debunk the myths about it, types of self-injury, reasons why people injure, warning signs of it/how to spot it, treatment options, and areas of focus in treatment.
- Boundaries – I define what bounaries are regardless of what type of relationship it may be–dating, marriage, family, or work. An explanation of how poor boundary setting can lead to issues such as depression, anxiety, anger, self-destructive behaviors, perfectionism/control issues, and cause undue stress. The later part of the presentation deals with how to establish healthy boundaries through various techniques and how to rid yourself or at least limit the influence of the unhealthy people in their lives. I can tailor this to fit businesses who may have difficulty with employees who share too much info, abusive bosses, and what manipulation looks like in the work place.
- Perfectionism – Identification of the seven different forms that it takes, the underlying issues (emotional and psychosocial/environmental), and how to work through those control issues (techniques).
- Stress Management – I like to educate people as to the mind-body connection with stress. The focus is on identifying the different forms of stress, its impact on the mind and body, and then finishes with stress management techniques that work vs. those that do not.
